AURELIEN DAVID: “I want to radically break down all boundaries between belief systems, music styles, languages!”

On the coverof "Como Life" March Issue: Aurelien David, French recording artist, singer and pianist. Aurelien shares his time between Germany, France and Israel. Aurelien David’s first album “Adon Olam” is an eclectic mix of pop ballad, influences from French Chansons and reinterpreted traditional Hebrew texts and melodies, accompanied by a piano arrangement inspired by classical composers.

His way of music started as early as at the age of 7. Later, Aurelien received classical training with renowned international concert pianists and singers. At 16 he made his mind to pursue a career as an artist. With the need of intellectual food, young Aurelien began to study engineering, politics and business. And upon receiving his master's degree at 21, Aurelien began his successful international career. 7 years later he founded his own company for international development cooperation. Since then, he has been traveling around the world working for government institutions, helping to realise sustainable projects. For a long time, he has been dreaming about reconnecting with his first passion by producing his own music. Inspired and surrounded by great people, he finally decided in 2018 to launch his own label and realise a project that is very important to him, the album "Adon Olam”.

Aurelien has always had a deep connection to Judaism and has always captivated by this musical heritage. The mission of his music is to radically break down all boundaries between religions, music styles, languages, the old and the new.

CL: Thank you for making the cover of March issue! How is it going with recording the full album?  When could we expect it to go on air?

AD: My first Album Adon Olam, was fully released in Autumn 2019. It was a very  important project for me and a first step into the music business. I created this album out of a very personal motive without really thinking about how it would be received by the public. So it was so overwhelming to receive so many messages from people from all over the world that were listening to my music. Some of them knew the melodies and texts already, but liked these innovative arrangements very much, others discovered the music for the first time. I am already working on my next EP, which will be released in 2020. It will be quite a shift in music style compared to my previous album, and I am very excited about it! It will be a surprise.

CL: Being a successful businessman and travelling all over the world is more than a full-time commitment for many. You, on the contrary, successfully work and manage to have time for your hobbies. Could you share your time management secrets how to juggle it all?

AD: I believe everything is about motivation and balance, I don’t see the long hours doing music or business as a burden, on the contrary, it nourishes my inspiration and creativity. Sport is a necessity, and meeting my friends and family is a very important part of the balance. I can’t stand still, I see each and every minute as an opportunity to do something, to learn something, I love to read or listen to audio books while travelling, mostly about history, art, politics or biographies. I always have 1000 projects and ideas in my mind, and it is something I need, it’s my engine. I try to live each and every day as it would be not the last but the only one.
