Exclusive interview with Lorna Imperial Congenial Health Care Consultancy Leader

Congenial Health Care Consultancy provides health care services in caring in respective manner for the religious old age homes, elderly independent assisted living group homes and other people who cannot make it to the hospitals. 

In the course of running my successful business and keeping a good balance of family life, it dawned upon me that I needed to give back more to the community.

Our exclusive interview today is withLorna Imperial PhD MSN CNS RN. Lorna is an innovative nursing leader, legal nurse consultant, entrepreneur, author and a vigilant organization strategist. An alumna of University of Santa Isabel, Philippine Women University, University of California Los Angeles, and University of Maryland.

A Geriatric Clinical Nurse Practitioner in private practice, she operates Congenial Health Care Consultancy. The professionally trained Delegating Nurses provides health care services in caring respective manner for the religious old age homes, elderly independent assisted living group homes and other people who cannot make it to the hospitals. 

CP: Hi Lorna, thank you for being with us today!

LI:
 My pleasure!

CP: How did the COVID-19 affect the activities of the Congenial Health Care Consultancy?
LI: In the current COVID-19 scenario, it is not just the elderly or special needs people whom we attend to. We cater to anyone who calls us for assistance from a hotel, religious old age homes, independent assisted living community residences, group homes or regular residence. Our shifts are spread over 12 hours and we provide 24/7 home health care assistance. These days, we attend up to 20 calls per day and after receiving the call, we drive and arrive at the spot within 30 minutes. We do comprehensive full case history of the patient calling in to know if it is a COVID-19 or some other cases. While we always take precautions and wear gloves and masks, in suspected COVID-19 cases, we have to be in full PPE gear. If the patient has to be taken to the hospital, we call If the patient has to be taken to the hospital, we call for an ambulance.

I am very proud and happy that I chose this profession that provides me the opportunity to serve the community and live on the principles of SERVANT LEADERSHIP.

CP: That sounds very intense! How do you perceive the situation in general, how long do you think we will live in this scenario?
LI: I believe, that together we will break the chain of COVID-19 infection. But we need to be extremely careful and take actions!

CP: May I be frank with you, are you scared for your health in this situation?
LI: I am a nurse and it is my duty to protect our community. I care for each individual their families' heath and safety. I care for the community.

CP: What are the main precaution measurements to avoid COVID-19?
LI:  Therefore, stay home, stay safe. Hand hygiene keep you safe. Stay home, stay safe. Maintain a safe distance. Please wear your mask and always wash your hands. Cover your mouth when coughing. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose. Your safety matters.
